Bonnie Brooks | Director

BA (Hons) BEng MSc MSLL MCIBSE MILP

 

Our team is led by Bonnie Brooks, who is a Chartered Electrical Engineer and Lighting Specialist with over fifteen years’ experience working within the industry. Developing concept to detailed designs, producing detailed surveys, reports and 3D modelling. She specialises in producing Lighting Impact Assessments to accompany planning applications. Assessing and advising on mitigation of the effects from both internal and external lighting on the environment and ecological sensitivities.

 

Bonnie is a full member of both the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineering (MCIBSE), the Society of Light and lighting (MSLL) and The Institute of Lighting Professionals (MILP). She is actively involved in the industry, presenting at various events and symposiums, providing input on industry guidance, including chairing the panel/ authoring an update to the ILP PLG04: Guidance On Undertaking Environmental Lighting Impact Assessments. Bonnie acted as the South West regional representative for the SLL for a number of years, and was awarded the Regional Award from the SLL in 2021 in recognition of her contribution to the society. She also won a number of awards for her work associated with her BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering degree at London South Bank University, and for her MSc in Light and Lighting at UCL.

 

Bonnie has a particular passion for the physiological and psychological effects of lighting; and the effects of lighting on wildlife and the environment.

We are SMAS Worksafe accredited. SMAS is a registered member of Safety Schemes In Procurement (SSIP).

Industry Involvement

We are actively involved in the industry. Bonnie was the representative for the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) in the South West for a number of years, organising events and seminars. We provide CPD presentations on various lighting topics, and have also presented at symposiums and conferences. Bonnie is also involved in writing and reviewing lighting guidance, working with the Institute of Lighting Professionals (ILP). We are active supporters of STEM learning, and women in construction and engineering. Encouraging young people, and graduates within the industry.

 

We provide CPD seminars and presentations for symposiums and conferences on a range of topics including Lighting Impact Assessments, Lighting and Wildlife including Bats, Street Lighting, the latest Lighting Standards and Guidance, Interior Lighting Design, LED Lighting and Controls.
